YARRA VALLEY WATER GETS CRYSTAL CLEAR PROJECT MANAGEMENT WITH ORACLE PRIMAVERA
In the intense heat of Melbourne, Australia, nothing is more refreshing than a cool glass of water. But not just any water will do. Only water that is smooth, clear, and delivered on time will quench a thirst generated by temperatures as high as 43 °C. Yarra Valley Water (YVW) aims to provide water that upholds these qualities. And to achieve this, YVW needed its high-capital projects to be as smooth, clear and timely as the water it delivers to 1.76 million customers and 52,000 businesses.
But when you run a business like Yarra Valley Water that owns thousands of miles of water and sewage mains; and has to manage complex renovations and improvement projects across six corporate divisions, it can be tough to get visibility into the complete project portfolio.
ONE PROJECT MANAGEMENT RIVER - MANY TRIBUTARIES
Keeping on top of such a rich network of water and sewage infrastructure means you must be able to see the complete picture. YVW chose Oracle’s Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management to help it gain greater visibility into projects, and to improve collaboration across teams.
Tapping into Oracle Primavera’s web-based functionality, project management staff can now access and update vital project data from anywhere. For the more intensive number crunching, YVW chose to deploy Oracle’s Primavera on Oracle Exadata and Exalogic servers, allowing the water supplier to generate reports up to 3x faster than before.
Adam Smith, Primavera Project Officer for Yarra Valley Water explains:
“With the new ease of use and anytime, anywhere access to project information in Primavera, we’ve renewed the focus on users, keeping project information up to date, and we’ve engaged them to use the system more effectively.”
Knowing is half the battle, and with this improved knowledge about its projects YVW was able to improve staff productivity, better manage risk, and ensure all projects adhered to changing regulations. More importantly, it was able to keep Melbourne’s water crisp, clean and readily available with greater efficiency than ever before.
